It started in Grandma's Kitchen

Inspired by Midwest German cuisine, Chef Jamie offers a menu specializing in home cooked food just like Grandma used to make, while also offering diners more contemporary fare.

What Our Diners Say

“Stopped into The Mixing Bowl for a unique dinning experience on the way to cheer on the Huskers in Boulder. The game didn’t go the way we wanted but the restaurant was above and beyond expectations.”

"Thank you Nebraska Passport. These 70 stops showed me Mother Nature’s beauty with stops at Smith Falls, Scott’s Bluff National Monument, and Agate Fossil Beds National Monument. Then we saw her destruction with the Missouri River floodwaters in Nebraska City, Brownville, and the many washed out roads as we traveled near Clarkson. The food along the way were some hidden gems at The Mixing Bowl, Sehnert’s Bakery and Bieroc Cafe and the ice cream at Staab’s Drive Inn. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next year."

All 70 Stops

"Each July 4th we head to Lake McConaughy and enjoy the holiday with our friends. We always take this opportunity to hit the Passport locations out west. We enjoyed visiting some old favorites who are back on the tour, the new gems discovered, and a couple from past years like Gibbon Honey Farms. The chocolate malt at Staab’s really hit the spot, but the epicurean delight of the weekend was the Chili Relleno Grilled Cheese from The Mixing Bowl, the perfect sandwich prior to the ride up to Agate Fossil Beds and parts north!"

Independence Day In Western Nebraska

"Breakfast all day and served hot! Especially appreciated for the cinnamon roll pancakes. They were amazing. Also ordered-Ranchero Burrito. Spicey and large. Good coffee and many choice of specialty coffees and mixed drinks. Cute place, very clean and even has a drive up window."

"This restaurant is wonderful!  Great service, vegan and vegetarian options and great little touches:  truffle fries, sweet potato fries, white chocolate chips in the pancakes, real turkey breast slices in the sandwiches.  Absolutely wonderful!!!"
